HEMORRHOIDS
By Dra. Annabel Carungin

hemmorhoidsHemorrhoids are swollen veins around the anus and in the rectum that may protrude from the anus.  They enlarge and lose their elasticity, like varicose vein, resulting in saclike protrusion into the anal canal.  They can be caused by prolonged standing and sitting, lifting heavy objects, straining of bowel movements, as well as by allergies and insufficient intake of dietary fiber.

The most common symptoms of Hemorrhoids are:

a. itching

b. burning pain

c. inflammation

d. swelling

e. irritation

f. bleeding

There are the 3 different types of hemorrhoids, depending on their location, severity, and the amount of pain.  These are:

1   Internal hemorrhoids - painless and located inside the rectum and above the anorectal line.

2 External hemorrhoids - also called "Piles". Develop under the skin at the opening of the anal cavity.  It can be extremely painful and became firm turning to blue or purple in color.

3 Prolapsed hemorrhoids - it is an internal hemorrhoid that collapsed and protrude outside the anus, often accompanied by a mucous discharge and heavy bleeding, it is excruciatingly painful.

TREATMENT RECOMMENDATION:

Dietary and nutritional habit plays  great role in the disorder than anything else.  Use a fiber supplement, start with a moderate amount and increase your intake gradually.  Eat foods that are high in dietary fiber, such as wheat, fresh fruits, apples, broccoli, food in the cabbage family, carrots, green beans, pears, peas and the whole grain.  Drink plenty of liquid, especially water preferably distilled.  Avoid red meat and high protein diet.

Warm sitz baths are especially beneficial.  Cleanse the problem area with warm water.  It is the warm water that reduces swelling and ease the pain.

Get regular moderate exercise.  Avoid exercises that requires lifting and exerting a lot of force.  Avoid sitting or standing for prolonged period of time.

To help bleeding hemorrhoid, eat food rich in Vit. K like dark leafy vegetables, also take vitamin and mineral supplement especially iron to prevent anemia.

Avoid use of strong or harsh laxatives.

These are the following treatment approach in dealing with hemorrhoid depending upon the location and severity of the problem.

1. Infrared photocoagulation - it involves the use of infrared heat to treat minor internal hemorrhoids.

2. Injection Sclerotherapy - a solution containing either quinine and urea or phenol is injected directly to site to shrink hemorrhoid and stop bleeding.

3. Laser Treatment - it is the easiest and least painful method of dealing with internal hemorrhoids.

4. Ligation - this is the most common treatment approach for internal hemorrhoids.  A small rubber band is used to tie off the base of the blood vessel.  Once blood circulation is eliminated from the offending vessel, it soon detaches and the rubber band is eliminated with body waste.  This often requires repeat treatment and is painful.

5. Surgery - aggressive method used for very painful and excessive bleeding hemorrhoids.

6. Biomagnet Field Therapy

a. Put negative 2-Stack Power Wafer in hemorrhoids sitting for one hour.

b. Place Power Wafer on underwear one inside and the other on the outside holding it in place.  The negative pole close to the skin.

c. Do Daytime Sternum and Nighttime Treatment everyday.

d. Drink 8 glasses of Magnetized Negative Water daily with  5 drops of Magnetizer Stabilized Liquid Oxygen.

e. Wash with Magnetized Negative water with Magnetizer Stabilized Liquid Oxygen.

If Symptoms persist, see or consult a proctologist.
